Conference Travel Grant for Regional Researchers

Helping Network members present cancer research at recognised scientific or professional conferences in Australia and overseas by removing key cost barriers to travel and attendance.

About the Scheme

This grant supports Network members to present an oral or poster presentation at a recognised conference. Funding helps presenters share findings, build collaborations and bring back skills and practical approaches that strengthen research capacity and improve cancer care in regional communities.

Funding Available

  • Domestic (within Australia): up to AUD $1,500 (ex GST)
  • International (outside Australia): up to AUD $6,000 (ex GST)

Covers conference registration, transport and accommodation only.

Eligibility

  • Be a current Network member.
  • Be the presenting author of an accepted oral or poster presentation on a cancer research topic.
  • Proof of acceptance is not required at application; however, funding is conditional on providing proof of acceptance prior to travel. If proof cannot be provided, funds must be returned.
  • Demonstrate alignment with the Network’s aims.
  • Travel occurs within the funding window.
  • One application per applicant for this scheme.

What’s Covered

  • Eligible: registration; economy air/rail; local ground transport; accommodation for the presentation period (within ATO reasonable limits).
  • Not eligible: per diems/meals/incidentals; visas; travel insurance; memberships; non-essential workshops; equipment; poster printing; alcohol; personal travel/extended stays; guests/plus-ones (incl. additional dinner tickets).

Key Dates

  • Applications open: 22 October 2025
  • Applications close: Open until funds are expended or by 31 May 2026
  • Notification of outcomes: Within 10 business days of submission
  • Travel window: 1 November 2025 – 31 May 2026
